The Stone Age Institute announces an important new fossil of a Homo erectus female pelvis from approximately 1.3 million years ago. This fossil reveals important new information about human evolution, especially the evolution of women and the childbirth process. The site, in the Gona region in the Afar triangle of Ethiopia, has been investigated by a multidisciplinary team headed by Dr. Sileshi Semaw, Senior Researcher at the Stone Age Institute and Indiana University's CRAFT Research Center.
