Moscow, 10 December: The chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army Gen Nikolay Makarov, said on Wednesday [10 December] he hoped that the work on updating the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty and signing a new strategic arms control treaty with the USA would be successfully completed. Makarov was meeting foreign military attaches.
"I think that we will achieve the positions that would make it possible to update the CFE and conclude a treaty on strategic arms control," Makarov said.
