The Coast Guard experienced the tragic loss of four of its crew members when "Coast Guard 6505" crashed during the evening of Sept. 4. The HH-65C crew was home based out of Air Station Barbers point, Hawaii.
The accident took place during a hoisting exercise with a 47-foot motor lifeboat from Station Honolulu.
Lt. Cmdr. Andrew Wischmeier, AST1 David Skimin and AMT2 Joshua Nichols were immediately recovered by the boat crew after the crash.
