Vietnam: Oxfam Hong Kong says economic growth should benefit poor.

Section: General News - To ensure that more people, particularly the poor, benefit from economic developments is a huge challenge not just for the Vietnamese government but also non-governmental organisations (NGO), said Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) Director General John Sayer.

Over the past 20 years, huge numbers of Vietnamese have escaped from poverty thanks to economic developments initiated by the Doi moi (renewal), the OHK head told a Vietnam news agency (VNA) reporter, marking the 20th year of OHK's presence in Vietnam.

However, these developments have not been felt by everybody, according to the official.
