BRIEF: High winds cut power to Broward, Miami-Dade residents.

Dec. 1--Florida Power & Light crews are working today to restore power to more than 500 Broward and Miami-Dade customers affected by Sunday's high winds.

At one point, about 10,000 customers were without electricity.

After utility crews worked throughout the night, the number of customers without power this afternoon is 79 in Broward and 455 in Miami-Dade.

"We did quite a bit of restoration," said FPL spokeswoman Sharon Bennett. "When palm fronds hit power lines, the power lines are intended to cycle off if they're hit very hard."
