Lead paint detection firm sees windfall in new law. (Lead Based Paint Detection Corp.; Lead Poison Prevention Act of 1992)

The Lead Based Paint Detection Corp. (LBP) has been established to take advantage of new federal regulations that could bring a lot of customers through its doors.

As of Dec. 6, all real estate agents will be required to inform potential home buyers of the possible dangers from lead based paint in homes built before 1978. The same rule went into effect two months ago for apartment dwellers as part of the Lead Poison Prevention Act of 1992.

The new Houston company says it will test houses and apartments for lead contamination locally, and will sell franchises in most major cities to fulfill a contract it landed to provide the service across the country.
