Sakamoto gets big number where it counts

One number went up, while another went down for second-year shortstop Hayato Sakamoto.
The 19-year-old earned a hefty raise after playing in all 155 games--regular and postseason--for the Yomiuri Giants, who rewarded him by quadrupling his salary on Thursday.
Sakamoto, who turns 20 on Dec. 14, next season will receive 34 million yen after hitting .257 with 24 doubles and 45 RBIs. He is also switching his jersey from No. 61 to No. 6.
