North Cotabato probes reported tampering of banana shipments.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY - The North Cotabato government is investigating reports that broken glass, pins and toothpicks were inserted in banana shipments to Japan of two big companies.

North Cotabato Vice-Gov. Emmanuel F. Pinol said the provincial government will form a body to investigate the reports.

"This is serious. If [both companies] will close their banana plantations in North Cotabato because of the stupidity of a few persons to destroy our bananas, thousands of people will lose their jobs," he said. "Many families will return to eating only once a day."
