BENZ BABIES
Mercedes-Benz has chosen a rather unorthodox way to introduce its new GLK compact sport-ute to the U.S. market with the unveiling of four heavily tuned versions.
* Most radical is the outlandish convertible GLK from Florida-based Boulevard Customs. Called the GLK Urban Whip, the chop-top comes with a bold chrome grille, cut-down windshield, bulging sills and towering 26-inch wheels.
* Florida-based Renntech's GLK Pikes Peak Rally gets a heavily reworked body with a deep front spoiler, flared fenders, chunky sills and a towering rear wing.
* German tuner Brabus stays close to production with its GLK Widestar, with typical Brabus styling and a punched-up V6 diesel under the hood.
