The NACM Central Region Conference took place this past September 18-19, offering new and returning attendees a chance to learn, network and grow in their careers as credit professionals with a wide array of educational sessions and informative and inspirational speakers. This year's conference theme was "Credit: King of the Business Jungle" and delivered a rousing two days jam-packed with valuable educational and networking opportunities geared toward giving attendees the skills, tools and knowledge they need to navigate the ever-changing and always-challenging B2B credit environment.
Hosted at the Meridian Banquet and Conference Center in Rolling Meadows, IL, the conference provided credit professionals with the perfect setting to soak up all the knowledge and skills they could. In addition to the various educational sessions taught by industry and legal experts, the conference also included two general sessions featuring two separate speakers. The general session on the 18th was led by John Powers, a professional speaker and best-selling author of The Junk Drawer, Corner Store, Front Porch Blues. Powers discussed the qualities of a successful, strong leader with passion and humor and attendees thoroughly enjoyed Powers' unique way of connecting with his audiences. The following day, William Strauss, a senior economist and economic advisor in the Federal Reserve Bank's research department in Chicago, delivered a presentation that focused on the current state of the economy and was altogether different from Powers' session, although no less valuable.
