The traditional definition of exporting involves the exchange of goods across national boundaries; real, tangible objects being shipped from one sovereign nation to an agreeing party located in a separate sovereign nation. This goes back to the idea of "product" and whether or not a product has to be something tangible sold to someone who either needs it to use it in the creation of some other finished product or re-sells it for a profit to a customer base that is otherwise unreachable by the original producer.
