MCLAREN, FORCE INDIA AGREE TO UNITE
McLaren-Mercedes and Force India F1 agreed in principle to collaborate in the future, and the deal could range from a powertrain supply to a full-on "customer car, depending on how far the FIA will allow such arrangements to go. Force India now uses Ferrari engines. The customer-car concept is espoused by Force India and Scuderia Toro Rosso, but it still faces vehement opposition from other Formula One teams.
NEW FRENCH GP
Disneyland Paris appears to be the favorite among various new venues to stage the next French Grand Prix, in 2010. Nicolas Deschaux, president of the FFSAthe French motorsport body that canceled the 2009 Magny-Cours fixture (Competition, Oct. 27)told French media that Disneyland could be ready in time and indicated that a promoter was in place.
NASCAR TO KENTUCKY?
Speedway Motorsports Inc. boss Bruton Smith expects to have a Sprint Cup date for Kentucky Speedway in 2010. That's also when rival International Speedway Corp. hopes for a second race for its Kansas Speedway. NASCAR has repeatedly said that it will not add races to the existing schedule, meaning that ISC and SMI must harvest a date from an existing property.
