Native upgrade will boost speeds
Opcode Systems Inc. is cooking up an upgrade to Studio Vision Pro for Macintosh, the company's digital audio recording and MIDI-sequencing software.
At this month's Audio Engineering Society convention in Los Angeles, Opcode announced Version 3.5 of the $995 package, which reportedly is due in January.
The Power Mac-native Studio Vision Pro 3.5 will support the Pro Tools III PCI boards from Palo Alto, Calif.-based Digidesign. According to Opcode, the native code will result in digital signal processing speeds that are eight to 20 times faster than current versions of the software. Along with support for Digidesign's TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) bussing, Opcode's software will now support eight auxiliary buses and address-line inserts. In addition Version 3.5 will handle 64 instruments, up from Version 3.0's 16.
