The government has cemented its ties with Bunyoro in what analysts say is an alliance to sideline Buganda. The mutual understanding was apparently concluded when President Museveni visited the kingdom on Sunday where he launched the kingdom's annual budget and work plan at the Omukama's palace.

Mr Museveni revealed that the government will partner with the kingdom "to fight corruption" and in the "implementation of key government programmes".

He was speaking after holding a two-hour closed door meeting with the Omukama's seventeen man cabinet in Karuziika Palace, the official residence of the king of Bunyoro. He said the …
