SNS & PTI BANGALORE,Nov. 4: India's unmanned lunar spacecraft, Chandrayaan-I,entered the last lap of its history-making journey to the moon The fifth and final orbit raising manoeuvre was successfully carried out this morning, injecting Chandrayaan-Iinto the lunartransfer trajectory. The spacecraft is now in EBN-5 orbit with an apogee of 380,000 kmsfrom earth (see graphic), and is expected to be injected into lunar orbit later this week.

During the manoeuvre this morning at 4.56 am, Indian Space Research Organisation scientists fired the spacecraft's 440 Newton liquid engine for 145 seconds, about two and a half minutes. The operation was described by the space agency …
