Text of statement entitled "Take Gen Aronda's word with full faith" by Maj Paddy Ankunda, spokesman of the Uganda People's Defence Forces, UPDF, published by leading privately-owned Ugandan newspaper The Daily Monitor website on 13 August

When the chief of defence forces, Gen Aronda Nyakairima, said that the UPDF will support the candidate who wins 2011 elections, and that the army will remain apolitical and respect the outcome of the elections (Daily Monitor, Monday, 4 August), he was making a very bold statement that deserves more attention than was given.
