Tropical storm Fay moving towards central Cuban provinces.

HAVANA, Cuba, August 17 (acn) - After affecting the eastern territories of Granma, Las Tunas and Camaguey with heavy rains and winds of 50 to 80 kilometres per hour, Tropical Storm Fay is now moving towards the central provinces of Ciego de Avila and Matanzas.

To protect human lives and preserve material resources are the main actions carried out by the Civil Defence Councils in each territory threatened by Fay. In Ciego de Avila for example, measures have been taken to evacuate residents in the town of Jucaro, an area that could be at risk.
