CW75 stock performance.(Chemical Week)(Statistical table)

The CW75 advanced 2.7% for the week ended October 14, a week that saw violent moves in share prices. The Morgan Stanley global composite index slid 1.6%, and the S&P500 was essentially flat, belying sharp intra-week swings in share prices across all sectors, analysts say.

Basic chemicals advanced 1.3%, diversified stocks rose slightly less than 1%, and specialties increased 3.1%. For the week, 41 companies posted gains, 1 held flat, and 33 declined.

Huntsman posted a gain of 53% as legal victories continue in its dispute to compel Apollo and its Hexion Specialty Chemicals unit to complete Hexion's acquisition of Huntsman. MEMC rallied 17%. Monsanto and Mosaic gained 19% and 16%, respectively, retracing sharp prior-week declines.

Innospec shares declined 30%, NL Industries fell 20%, and Shin-Etsu dropped 18% last week.
