Belarusian chief prosecutor says penalties for innocent people should be stopped.

Minsk, 31 October. Administrative penalties by courts imposed on innocent people should be eliminated, Belarusian Prosecutor-General Ryhor Vasilevich said to journalists on 31 October.

There are many examples when courts hear administrative cases in absentia without proving the identity of an offender, he said. "There are cases when an administrative offender gives information about absolutely wrong people. As a result, administrative penalties are imposed on those who do not have anything to do with that offence," Vasilevich noted.
