Keroche Cries Foul Over Tax Audit.

Keroche Breweries Limited, the Naivasha-based brewer, may be forced to halt its operations as the Kenya Revenue Authority begins a thorough audit of its books today on suspicion of tax evasion.

Already, Keroche has laid off about 200 workers and its distribution network paralysed after failing to secure the mandatory tax stamps from national tax agency KRA.

"Three weeks ago, KRA wrote to the company informing us that they were going to carry out an audit of the company but the timing raises questions," said the brewer's chief executive Tabitha Karanja. "Two weeks ago, even before the said audit, KRA wrote another letter …
