MEDIA Prima Bhd, Malaysia's biggest media group, saw a 23 per cent rise in second-quarter net profit, bolstered by improved operational results in its associate company The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) and exceptional profits on sale of Malay Mail.
It posted a net profit of RM30.7 million in the three months ended June 30 2008 from RM25 million in the same period last year.
Revenue came in at RM198.5 million, up 19 per cent from RM167.1 million.
For the first six months of 2008, Media Prima reported a 42 per cent rise in net profit to RM47.8 million from RM33.6 million in the same period a year ago.
