TirthankarMitra KOLKATA,Oct 30: Rs1.68 crore went down the drain after text books worth this substantial sum were not distributed owing to minor mistakes in them. These textbooks numbering 23.99 lakhwere scheduled to be given free of cost to Class I to V students of all government and government-aided schools. This revelation is not part of a campaign launched by the Opposition of the state. The amount of wastage in financial terms, the number of textbooks, coupled with the number of students denied of their use has been quantified as part of the Comptroller and Auditor General's (CAG)report.
