Thailand: Nine people injured by bomb explosion in Yala.

Section: General News - Nine people were wounded, three of them critically, in a bomb blast at a market in Yala's Muang district on October 29 morning, police said, the Bangkok Post reports.

The explosion happened near an entrance to a provincial highway district office close to Pimolchai fresh market at about 7am.

A 3kg home-made bomb in a metal box placed near the entrance was detonated by a mobile phone when 12 soldiers were about to buy food supplies at the morning market.

Sgt Witsanu Nuanloi, 37, Sgt Toranin Saiwanna, 44, and Sgt-Maj Limcharoen received severe shrapnel wounds to several parts of their bodies.
