The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) joint venture has commissioned the first turbine of the $1.3 billion (about N152.1 billion) combined cycle Afam VI Power Plant, the Okoloma Gas Plant and associated gas wells - collectively known as the Afam Gas and Power Project.

On completion, the power plant will inject 650 Megawatts (Mw) of electricity into the national grid to augment power supply and distribution efforts of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
