Uganda marks the end of the Breast Cancer month and a visit to the Pathology department of Makerere University and cancer Registry at Mulago reveals unpleasant news.
According to Professor Henry Wabinga, a pathologist and researcher, "Breast cancer is the second commonest cancer affecting women in Uganda after cancer of the cervix and records carried out about five years ago reveal that it occurs in 27 women out of 100,000." (These records were carried out within one county -Kyadondo which covers Kampala and its surrounding areas).
Recently, the number is said to be on the increase.
