UK Music passed its first real test with flying colours after corralling its members last week and persuading them to produce an 11th- hour joint industry response to illicit filesharing.
The move comes as the deadline for the BERR consultation on how to deal with P2P draws rapidly near. It closes on Thursday (October 30), when UK Music will submit the final joint statement.
It is also a major coup for the nascent organisation, which officially opened its doors today (Monday).
A draft deal has been circulating the industry for a couple of weeks and UK Music chief executive Feargal Sharkey has been confident a deal could be reached.
