BARELY two months after Mr and Mrs Izevbigie Osawaru, both staffers of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), were murdered by suspected assassins at their home in the BDPA quarters Ugbowo, Benin City, the deputy registrar of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Dr John Ighodaro, was murdered last Monday by gun men suspected to be hired assassins.
It would be recalled that one Mr Akpekpe, a lecturer at UNIBEN, was also killed in a similar manner in 2003.
The recent death has thrown the Ighodaro family into mourning, particularly the widow, Elizabeth, who was a former Leader of Edo State House of Assembly and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). When Sunday Vanguard visited the deceased's residence at the Government Reservation Area (GRA), last Wednesday, the once busy house was like a grave yard.
