MATSUE--The founder and former president of Toyoko Inn Co., the operating firm of the Toyoko Inn chain of business hotels, was arrested Wednesday for approving the improper storage of industrial waste that resulted in eight people being poisoned with toxic gas.

Norimasa Nishida, 62, of Minato Ward, Tokyo, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Waste Management Law by giving his approval for about 30 tons of plaster board, light-gauge steel and concrete left over from construction work to be stored in the plumbing cellar of the Toyoko Inn Matsue Ekimae hotel in Matsue. …
