Govt to draft guidelines on recalls for small firms

In a bid to minimize damage caused by defective products, the government on Wednesday decided to draw up a set of guidelines to help companies recall their products once a serious defect has been detected, sources said.
The move is aimed at supporting small and midsize firms, which, compared with large companies, have limited knowledge of and funding for recalls. The government plans to publish the guidelines by the end of the year after submitting the proposal to the Quality of Life Policy Council, which is an advisory body to the prime minister.
