Manoj Chaurasia PATNA, Oct. 28: The renowned Munshi Premchand, in his masterpiece Panch Parmeshwar, had described the panch (local jury) as the parmeshwar (God). That, however, may no longer be the case in the badlands of Bihar.

Local panchayats seem to have lost their way as the common man of the countryside is forced to endure raw justice, which roughly means torture and brutal violation of human rights. This bizarre form of justice seems to be picking up here of late.
