The judiciary on Tuesday condemned the government organization in charge of national defense for its impermissibly sloppy information management.

The Yokohama District Court found Maritime Self-Defense Force Lt. Cmdr. Sumitaka Matsuuchi guilty of leaking highly classified information on an Aegis-equipped destroyer and sentenced him two years and six months in prison, suspended for four years, for violation of the Law Concerning the Protection of Secrets for the Japan-U.S. Mutual Defense Assistance Agreement.
