SUGAR RAY LEONARD, NOT ONE to pull his punches, slammed it hard in issuing a vital warning to Manny Pacquiao.

Leonard put it bluntly and told Pacquiao he wont stand a chance against Oscar De La Hoya if he forgets his shield, no matter how flimsy, in the dugout.

That, you bet, is a big improvement from what the sage Angelo Dundee had predicted when he swore that he didnt see any chance of Pacquiao winning over De La Hoya.

OK, you can say that Dundee, with his mythical credentials, could easily qualify as the pontiff of prizefighting, if theres such a being.

But its easier to side with Leonard. …
