Tokyo, Sept. 17 Kyodo - The main opposition Democratic Party of Japan and the tiny opposition People's New Party have started final arrangements towards formally agreeing to merge, possibly next week, party sources said Wednesday.
The move comes ahead of a possible House of Representatives election, in which the DPJ is thought to have its best chance ever of ousting the long-ruling coalition parties of the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito party.
