Oct. 21--At what point does a football game become more than just a football game? When the answer has more to do with the safety of 100 players and thousands of fans than a trophy and bragging rights.

The annual Muck Bowl between Pahokee and Glades Central is the crown jewel of rivalry games in Palm Beach County. Yet the biggest question this season isn't who will win, but whether the game should even be played. A number of shootings have victimized the communities this fall, including one that was fatal for Pahokee standout linebacker Norman Griffith three weeks ago, with two Belle Glade teenagers arrested in the crime.
