Charitable group wants OSU to allow payroll deductions. (Ohio State University)

The head of a charitable coalition says Ohio State University is dragging its feet on a decision whether to allow the group to solicit OSU employees through payroll deductions.

Melissa Magers, executive director of 4-year-old Greater Columbus Community Shares, said the group wants university permission to solicit Ohio State's 18,000 employees the way it has allowed United Way of Franklin County to do so for years.

Community Shares is a coalition of 21 nonprofit agencies that raises funds for a wide range of community services, including low-income housing, job training, rape prevention and environmental causes.
