DSM to close a citric acid plant.

DSM is closing down its citric acid production facility in Wuxi, China by 2009 in line with the order of local authorities to relocate the plant to give way to urban development. The company will not incur a loss as a result of the closure as it will be compensated by the local government. However, instead of relocating and adding to the already saturated Chinese citric acid market, it has decided to focus production in Tienen, Belgium where it has initiated process optimization programmes.
