Many academic departments, concerned with providing curricula that are both current and targeted to student and employer needs, are tailoring their curricula to target specific skill sets. This in turn generates students who graduate more prepared to assume positions being demanded by employers. Curriculum development includes changing content and focus of existing courses as well as offering new courses and grouping courses in logical blocks. The process logically begins with specifying goals, assessing needs, and determining demand, and continues through planning for and implementing the changes.
