Uganda's embassy in Belgium is in ruins. What is supposed to be a symbol of national pride in Belgium and the European Union, is home to hoodlums, effectively serving as a symbol of national shame.

It is amazing that this has gone on for as long as 10 years, when the last occupant resided in the house. Ten years is a long period and surely the excuse that there is no money cannot hold water. Simple economics would require Uganda to borrow from Belgium banks, redevelop the structure and rent it out.

Surely over that period that money would have been recovered or a good chunk of it. The state of this embassy, the biggest in Europe after the London High …
