Shell Oil Co. reportedly has found a "big enchilada" under layers of salt in the Gulf of Mexico.

Energy analysts expect the oil company to report the discovery of a huge oil and gas reservoir beneath the salt formations that lie underneath large portions of the Gulf shelf.

Shell's exploration well - dubbed "Enchilada" - reportedly has tapped into reserves in the equivalent range of 100 million barrels of oil. Enchilada tested at 20 million cubic feet of gas a day and 1,000 barrels of oil, according to a report issued by the New York firm of Rodman & Renshaw Inc.
