MIS job market: shaken but not stirred. (management information systems)

The MIS job market remains strong and the number of open positions has grown by 9% over 1994. But the market is shaken if not stirred, as the rankings of the most wanted job skills have not stabilized and there is still substantial change in the relative rankings of the top skills. This report consists of a study of want ads for MIS related jobs published in nine major U.S. newspapers.

In brief, it shows that the new skills that surfaced last year remain near the top of the list although there are some major shifts within the top skills. As expected, PC skills continued to increase in this downsizing marketplace, but most telling is the increasing strength of network ...
