The credit crunch is so tight, banks are no longer lending even to one another. The most striking sign of collective mistrust: key interbank lending rates are spiking all over the world. The numbers, from RGE Monitor:

32 Percentage increase in three-month LIBOR (London interbank lending rates) since January. Now at 4.1%.

61 Percentage increase in three-month HIBOR (Hong Kong interbank lending rates) since January. Now at 3.8%.
