THE OLD WAYS OF COVERMOUNTS AND LISTS are out for the new-look Q Magazine, as it unveils a re-design featuring a raft of brand new features and writers.
The revamped magazine, the first under the leadership of new creative director Ian Stevens, hits newsstands tomorrow (Tuesday).
New regular slots in the magazine include The Q Challenge, David Quantick On..., The Q Hero (the first of which will profile Barack Obama), Rock `N' Roll Travel, Alternative Blue Plaques and a new entertainment section, while new contributing editors include Sylvia Patterson and William Shaw.
Editor-in-chief Paul Rees says that the aim of the new focus is to distinguish the magazine - still Britain's biggest music title, despite falling circulation - from its competitors. "I think we have drifted into being just another music magazine," he says. "We want to act like a market leader and be innovative."
"We want to just give a different take on music, so it is not just the standard, here's a band, here's an album..." he adds. "The magazine needs to be confident and to have a swagger."
