Husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Michael and Allyson Ciccia have made comfort a footwear habit.
Whenever Allyson Ciccia traveled to Italy to visit family, she returned home with her suitcase packed with an assortment of comfortable platform shoes she'd picked up there. For Allyson, they were the perfect alternative to spiky heels, which routinely got stuck in the cobblestone streets of her Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston.
The shoes caught the eye of friends and co-workers, and soon Allyson was inundated with requests to pick up extra pairs on her future trips to Italy. Sensing an opportunity, Allyson teamed up with her husband, Michael, to launch Cordani, a line of fashion-comfort footwear built on rocker-style bottoms. The company turns 10 this year.
