With the release of AutoSocks IV 1.2, Aventail Corp. enables network administrators to "socksify" their Windows desktop TCP/IP applications, letting them cross Socks IV firewalls across all three Windows platforms.

Socks IV is an Internet Engineering Task Force-approved protocol that serves as a proxy mechanism to ensure secure communications through firewalls.

AutoSocks intercepts WinSock communication requests issued by the TCP/IP applications and processes them based upon a set of predetermined rules.

AutoSocks is built on the WinSock Component Architecture.
