For those who find a week of dog sledding the ultimate vacation or want to try being real-life "City Slickers" on a Southwestern dude ranch, Off the Beaten Path is making tracks into new terrain.

Off the Beaten Path is the brainchild of Bill and Pam Bryan, who opened the Bozeman, Mont.-based business in 1987 with the help of investors who believed in customized adventure trips. This year, the business is expanding into the Southwest with a sales and marketing office in Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale office is essential to growth of the firm, according to Bill Bryan. "Our business plan includes the Southwest. Between 23 to 30 percent [of our business] within two years is going to be focused on the Southwest," he said. "No matter what we are doing here [in Montana], …
