A proposal by Act III Theatres to develop a large cinema complex in Southeast Portland contains a startling coming attraction: accompanying housing.
The theater chain, headquartered in Portland, wants to replace its Rose Moyer 10-screen complex, at Southeast 165th Avenue and Division Street, with one containing 50 percent more seats. The proposal, described in documents submitted to Portland city planners, also calls for construction of 95 units of housing next to the theater - a type of development previously foreign to Portland's dominant theater chain.
