Innovative drawing program empowers creative illustrators

On June 18, a week after finalizing its merger with Ray Dream, Fractal Design introduced Expression, a revolutionary vector-based illustration program. Originally created by a Hong Kong developer named Creature House, Expression is a "natural media" drawing tool aimed at cartoonists and illustrators. Simply put, Expression is to Illustrator, Corel Draw and FreeHand as Painter is to Photoshop.

Natural strokes. Expression's innovation is its "skeletal stroke" technology. With it, artists draw on the screen as if they were working with conventional canvas media-paintbrushes, pencils, pens, chalk and so forth-but the drawings are rendered as vectors, not as raster images.
