Digital content provider New Stream Media has signed licensing deals with the four majors and several indies to allow it to record and distribute live concerts from the O2 and IndigO2 venues.

The company has already recorded shows by artists including Keane, Elton John and Sugababes, which it then offers for sale as audio and video downloads from the O2 Active platform.

NSM managing director Abigail Hemingway says that signing framework deals with the major labels will allow the company to approach artists performing at the O2 with a simplified contract, which she believes will significantly boost their business.

"It opens the door so that it is much quicker. Very often we go through labels to make deals with artists anyway. If we have just a one-page contract to complete that is then signed, you can go ahead without hordes of lawyers," she says.

"I hope we are going to see more of them happening. We are building up momentum; there are plenty of great acts to come."
