Developers and health-care companies are collaborating to place medical campuses within master-planned communities across the Valley.

Some developers are making medical services a part of their plans up front; others have added medical facilities as an afterthought.

Among major deals so far:

* Sun Health is partnering with Del Webb Corp. on its third master-planned community in the Sun City area to develop health-care services at Sun City Grand, a 4,000-acre project planned southwest of Sun City West.

* Phoenix-based DMB is negotiating with some of the state's largest health-care players to put health services at DC Ranch, an 8,300-acre master-planned community in Scottsdale.

* Scottsdale Memorial Health Systems Inc. and Mayo Clinic Scottsdale are in a race to establish primary-care clinics in the Valley, and have set up several sites at existing and planned master-planned communities.
