FOR THOSE WHO WANT a 22-inch monitor that can properly reproduce colors but who can't justify the stratospheric price commanded by some models, the $559 ViewSonic VP2250wb offers some welcome middle ground.
The VP2250wb won't win any beauty contests, but it is distinguished by the flexible stand that lets you adjust the height, pivot the screen orientation, and tilt and swivel the panel.
The VP2250wb has a native resolution of 1,680x1,050, and ViewSonic says the monitor covers 106 percent of the NTSC gamut. Other specs include a pixel pitch of .28 millimeters, gray-to-gray response time of 2 milliseconds, a brightness of 300 candelas per square meter, and a contrast ratio of 1,000-to-1.
Unlike other high-end monitors, the VP22S0wb may not have enough of the features that appeal to professionals. It can't handle full 1080p resolution and there's no HDMI connectivity.
